League play and activities are alive and well at Prescott Golf Club!
For a club the size of Prescott Golf Club, we have a variety of Leagues and league-type activity. Heck, we have a lot going on for a club TWICE our size!
Virtually ANY golfer of any age, ability and gender can find a league here that suits them. Hey, if you don’t, let us know and we’ll see what we can do!
Ladies League – Tuesday
Plays Tuesday morning beginning with 9am start and ending with lunch.
Senior Men’s League – Thursday
Long-standing Prescott tradition – these men play during the morning, starting at 8am.
Men’s Team Play – Thursday
Another men’s tradition here, this is where the men play at different times and scores are collated at the clubhouse for league play. It’s very informal – play at just about any non-specific time. Scores collated for this one, too.
Intersectional (Ladder) Regional Play
This is a chance to pit our best against the best players from other clubs and from other markets. And guess what? Our team(s) are pretty competitive!
There are four clubs per division:
Winner moves up the ladder, 2nd place hosts, 3rd place stays put and the 4th place team drops down a rung.
Available for our men, ladies, juniors and senior golfers.
St. Lawrence League
St. Lawrence League is an annual men’s competition between 12 clubs (Prescott, Brockville, Cataraqui GCC, Cornwall CC, Malone, Potsdam, Gananoque, Mississippi, Garrison, Smiths Falls, Perth, Amherstview GC). The team consists of 10 players including 1 junior and 1 senior. Tryouts for the team take place in June. If you love competitive golf, this event is for you. The host club is rotated through all member courses. Prescott is scheduled to host in 2022.
Senior Ryder Cup
We are participating in the Senior Ryder Cup for the very first time in 2021. Our club will play in 4 matches with the other clubs in our group. For 2021, our group will include Brockville CC, Upper Canada and Casselview GC. The team is made up of 8 senior club members. Qualifying will take place in the spring.
Ladies’ Valley League Play
This league, a tradition for the last 25 years, consists of 5 clubs situated along the eastern seaway valley between Cornwall and Prescott. Each lady golfer must qualify in her handicap class to play in a one day tournament. Points are accumulated for low gross and low net winners for each handicap class to determine who gets bragging rights to call their club THE CHAMPIONS. Our ladies have won the tournament on occasion. In 2017 we brought home 7 of the 9 trophies – quite the feat!
